Australia’s ‘flying monkeys’ can now fly – but it’s a slow, painful process

Flying monkeys, a creature with an extremely high mortality rate, are a fascinating species in a strange land.

They are a delicacy in many parts of the world, including Australia.

Now the birds are taking flight again, with the first sightings in the southern part of the country in a week.

The birds are known as “flying monkeys” for their flight-like movement and the rapidity of their movements, according to the National Wildlife Federation.

They have been sighted in Queensland and the Pilbara region of New South Wales.

“They’re pretty docile and very, very docile, but they do make their own rules, so they don’t want to go too far out of bounds,” says David Lacey, who manages the bird’s population in the Piliar Wildlife Sanctuary in Pilbara.

“The best place to see them is in remote areas.

They will come and sit in a tree, or in the bush, and they’re very peaceful and they do have a very high mortality.”

But it can be very dangerous for the birds, who can bite and eat humans.

It can also be extremely dangerous for humans to be near them, especially if they are feeding.

“If you do go too close, they’re really dangerous because they will get up and start running around,” Lacey says.

“You’re going to have to have a good distance and a good range of cover to be safe.”

The birds have been known to attack and kill people and dogs.

Lacey has had to put up barricades and fencing to prevent the birds from being able to take to the air.

“It’s just very scary.

You don’t know where they’re going, and you can’t really see anything for yourself,” he says.

The animals can travel for up to four hours at a time, but Lacey believes there is a high risk of them flying into the trees and damaging a tree.

They can also bite people.

“Their wings are quite sharp, and if you get them on the neck or the back, they can be quite big, so if you have a bit of leverage with your arm you can grab them and put them down, or pull them around the tree,” he said.

“That’s one of the things I do, is I just take a little bit of rope with me, and tie it to the top of the branch and just hang it up.”

It is not uncommon for the bird to fly out of the tree, and then back in again, which is why it’s important to be cautious, says Lacey.

He advises people to always have a clear line of sight when travelling in remote locations, especially when the birds can be seen flying in the area.

“When you’re on a road or something like that, you want to be aware of the birds,” he advises.

“Even if it’s not a really dangerous area, be aware that they can get quite close.”
